Google Pixel 2 and its XL counterpart does not come with an option to choose a light or dark theme by default. There is no option to personalize this setting and this can be frustrating sometime when you are using your phone at night. Longer usage may start tiring your eyes. And yes, many users like me prefer dark theme over a light one any day.
Here's the good thing, even though there is no option to select between light and dark theme, you can still switch between the two of them with this workaround.
Google Pixel adjusts the background based on your wallpaper. So, if you want to switch to a dark background, choose any of the dark wallpapers provided and that's it. To get back to a light theme, select any light wallpaper. Here's my screen when using a dark background and a light one. You can notice the theme adjustment by itself.

This can also be frustrating if you want to switch between them regularly, but there is no second option as of now. For people like me who can always stay on a dark theme, this is helpful.
Again, this may come at a cost of your favorite wallpaper. You might want to put your kid's pic on the home screen but your Google Pixel may start using a light theme for that wallpaper!
It would be great if Google includes a personalization setting by default to choose from. Do you agree? Tell us in the comments.
