I bought a Google Pixel 2 a month ago and I am loving it. The build quality is pretty decent and Camera is one of the best in the market. There's no lag even when playing a high end game and the phone is always updated to the latest of Android.
All the feature combined with premium design and stock android makes it probably the best in the market. And, there are some hidden features which can add to your experience.
In this article, we will see some of the less known features of Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL - some of which I discovered accidentally.
Double press the power button to get to camera
Pixel 2 has probably the best camera in a smartphone, and with such a camera you certainly don't want to miss any moment. There are ways where you can easily access Camera without actually going to the application list and then tapping it.
When the screen is locked, there is a camera button at the bottom right corner. All you have to do is drag it to top and the camera will open.
Alternatively, you can just press the power button twice in succession to open Camera in both locked and unlocked screen.
Use the fingerprint sensor to check notifications
Pixel 2 comes with a handy feature. To unlock your phone, there is a finger print sensor at the back. This fingerprint sensor can act as a way to quickly glance at the notifications. All you have to do is move your finger from top to bottom on the sensor and it will drag down the notifications center.
Adjust keyboard for one hand use
If you are used to smaller screen and find it a bit difficult to type in Pixel 2 XL or Pixel 2 by one hand, there's way to adjust your keypad.
When the keypad is displayed while typing, tap and hold the Enter key and a pop-up will appear.
Tap on the image and the keypad gets smaller and will shift to one side. There are options to shift it to left or right or reduce the size depending upon your preferences.
I have always used a 4.7' inch screen and this feature pretty much help me in typing with one hand.
Change Battery Saver option
Battery Saver gets activated when your phone's charge reaches to a critical level. You can always activate the battery saver mode manually from the notification center, however you may miss it sometime and don't want to miss out all the important calls! Battery saver option can be set to 5% or 15% to get activated. It's always better to set it to 15% so that you can buy some more time to search for a charging slot.
Launch Google Assistant
There's actually three different ways you can launch Google Assistant. Saying Ok Google will launch the Assistant in an instant or you can use the home button on the home screen to launch it.
There is another way where you can press your phone a bit for the assistant to launch. Say you are holding your phone in your right hand, all you have to do is just press it in your palm and done.
Using split screen
Split screen lets you more than one app at a time. Say you are using a media player to change songs frequently but also want to read your mails, you can tap the square button on the screen to start the split screen. You can decide the apps after it.
Turn on "Now Playing"
You can turn on "Now Playing" from the settings to display the songs which are currently playing in your nearby. Pixel displays the song that is currently playing on your lock screen and is a great way of getting hold of a song and then to never forget it.
Do you have something to add to the list? I am only a month old with Google Pixel 2 (to be frank, Android) and would love to find out some little known secrets about my phone.
