Cache data is created by applications to store commonly used information to access them a bit faster. A web browser may cache the frequently visited website by storing the logo, images and common elements of that page. In the next visit, these do not needs to be downloaded again to view as they are locally available. Similarly, a game may store your preferences and game settings.
One on hand cache files improves your Google Pixel 2 phone's performance but on a long run with continuous apps installation and uninstall, the cache becomes cluttered and may slow up your phone.

There are 2 layers where cache files are created. One is for individual applications and other one is at the system level.
How to clear cache for application in Google Pixel
- Open your Google Pixel and tap on Settings > Apps & notifications.
- Select the app and tap on storage.
- Tap on the options to clear cache.
How to clear system cache for Google Pixel
- Turn off your Google Pixel phone.
- Press power button and volume down button together.
- Keep pressing both the buttons till the Google Logo disappears.
- Your device will boot into recovery mode. Choose language and tap on "Wipe Data and Cache"
- Tap again on "Wipe Cache" options and click yes on the prompt. .
If you like to try out different apps and end up uninstalling most of them, its good to clean up the traces and caches.
