Google Pixel 2 comes with a face unlock feature which is disabled by default. You can set it up and it works quite well - with some limitation which we will talk later. Let's see how you can set up face unlock in Google Pixel 2.
Set up Face Unlock in Google Pixel 2
To set up face unlocking option, follow the below steps.
- Go to Settings > Security & location.
- Tap on Smart Lock under Device security option.
- Enter your device PIN to continue.
- You can find a couple of options to unlock your phone, tap on Trusted face.
- In the next screen, tap on SET UP and add a trusted face. Make sure to do it in a place that is neither too dark nor too bright.
- Once the set up is done, make sure to select Improve face Matching in the next screen.
Note : If you see a disabled by administrator message for Trusted face option, read this article : How to fix disabled by administrator.
Next time to unlock your phone, turn on the screen with power button and look at the camera. It will scan your face and matches it with the set up face and unlocks your phone.
Limitation of face un-locking.
The face unlock feature comes with some limitations.
- These are not very secure, your look-a-like can easily have access to your phone.
- If you have not unlocked your phone in last 4 hours, this feature won't work.
- After a restart, both the fingerprint sensor and face unlock feature won't work.
