Google Pixel 2 is a great phone with awesome specifications and features. However, Google Play Store is full of crappy apps which compromises the performance of your Pixel in the form of frequent crashes, battery drainage, low performance and over heating. If you're an App-hopper like me trying difference apps and keeping the one which is useful, you are gonna face these problems sometimes or the other.
One way to avoid these problems is by installing apps from trusted publishers only. If you are facing any such issues where your battery runs out pretty fast as compared to a month before and / or your phone overheats even with small usages, you can pretty much determine if its an application that is causing an issue or if it's a hardware problem.
Google Pixel (and every Android Phone) comes with a feature called "Safe Mode" where all the third party apps and processes are disabled and your phone runs as a minimal system. If you find a difference in the performance while running your Pixel 2 in safe mode, its a sign that you have some apps / malwares that is hampering your phone's performance.
Booting your Google Pixel 2 in safe mode is easier than you think. In this article, we will see how we can boot Google Pixel 2 in safe mode while the phone is ON and OFF.
How to boot Pixel 2 in safe mode
When your phone is turned on.
1. Press the power button for some time to see the Power off and Restart option.
2. Tap and Hold Power Off for some seconds and a window appears on your screen confirming if you want to boot your Pixel device in Safe Mode.
3. Click Ok and continue to boot into safe mode.
When your phone is turned off
If you are phone is already turned off, you don't need to turn it on and then go for the above method.
1. Press the power button to restart your phone.
2. Once you see the Google Logo, press and hold Volume Down button until the Google Logo animation ends.
3. Your phone will start in Safe Mode.
How to exit from Safe Mode
To exit from the safe mode, restart your phone.
If you see a difference in performance, its time to remove the unwanted and non-trusted apps. If the issue still persists, you may even try to factory reset your phone but make sure you back up your Google Pixel.
